I’m still deep in development, it will be a very busy summer.
This was my first time to SXSW, and it was awesome! The feedback was even better that C2E2. The crowds were way down, but still great to hear from people on my project.
The Kickstarter campaign was funded in less than two hours! Now the work begins.
C2E2 was a huge success! I was overwhelmed by the positive response. The attendance was about half of what it was before the Pandemic, but it was still great to meet and chat with people. Next, the Kickstarter campaign.
I had a great time at Fantasticon this weekend. It was so nice doing a Con in Milwaukee for a change. My son was able to help out at the booth, and do a little shopping in between. Hope we can do it again next year.
So I’m finally back!! I ended up taking off more time that I thought, but you do what needs to be done for family.
I went to two shows in April, Salt Lake and C2E2. Both went great. I met loads of awesome people and had a super time!
Since C2E2 I’ve been getting quite a bit of good press. About a dozen or so that included an interview in Comic Book Resources and a great article in the New York Review of Books!
I know it’s been quite a while since my last post, but it’s been a crazy few months.
First of all, my father had a stroke and died in September. It’s been a really rough time for me. I took some time off to focus on my family.
Now for the stuff that didn’t suck. I’ve been to two Comic Cons since July. Chicago Wizard World was great. Sold out of most of my inventory, met lots of great people and had a fantastic time. But New York Comic Con was over the top. I sold out almost half way though the Con. I had crowds and lines for most of the weekend. Incredible feedback from everyone I met. And the really big news is that I was approached by multiple publishers about publishing The Zombie Office.
So I’m taking a break from Comic Cons and focusing on writing my book. The problem has been that I’ve been overwhelmed with freelance work. But it’s slowly starting to take shape. Hopefully I’ll have something soon to share soon.
Wizard World NYC was a bit of a disappointment when it came to turnout. It was a fraction of the crowds at C2E2. But what it lacked in quantity it more than made up for in quality. I made some amazing contacts and talked to a lot of very enthusiast people in the media and trade, as well as talking to current and new fans.
But the highlight was having mega movie producers Rick Schwartz and Jeremy Frommer walk up to my table and give me some truly amazing compliments. I have received some incredible feedback from a wide array of people over the last four months, but to hear such positive encouragement from these two rock stars (who are both really great guys by the way) has solidified my beliefs in this project.
I came back from NY full of energy and confidence. It’s all happening!
All of my prints are done and printed. The calendars are printed. The webcomic goes live on Monday. And this time next week I’ll be in NYC at the Comic Con. I’m at booth C6.
Things could not be gong better, Manhattan here I come!
Yes, two more posters done. Only two left. The end is in site! Once all 12 are done I will put together the calendars. And the webcomic will debut on the 24th.
Everything should be ready for the New York Comic Con on June 28th. I can hardly wait!
Lots of cool stuff going on!
I’ve been accepted to the Wizard World NYC Con at the end of June. I’ve been asked to do some cartoons by a publisher, as well as some other exciting commissions. I’m talking to some comic book stores about carrying my line. I’ll be working on an “orientation video” animation for The Zombie Office site with the help of a local comedy theatre. Not to mention the webcomic, which may now be spawning into multiple comics.
And I’m still getting tons of fantastic feedback and praise.
So on I go…
C2E2 was a huge success!
I was blown away by the overwhelming response from everyone who stopped by my booth. Publishers, store owners, fans, everyone had such wonderful comments – and great suggestions. I still can’t believe that I gave out over 1000 cards. I had to go to Kinkos every morning to get a new batch because I kept running out.
I can’t wait for the next one. With any luck I’ll be at the NYC Con at the end of June.
The last two prints are now live and ready for the show, check them out here. All 8 are at the printers now and will be done in time for C2E2.
The webcomic unfortunately will not be ready. I’m just not happy with how it’s turning out. I’ll be asking for feedback on the pencil sketches at the expo, and then revisit it in May.
Keep moving forward…
Two new prints are up on the site, check them out here.
C2E2 is just 2 weeks away now. There is still a lot to get ready. The webcomic is coming along well, and should be live by next weekend. And the last 2 prints are outlined and on the drawing board.
The clock is running…
As C2E2 races ever closer, so does my webcomic.
Now that I have a few of my prints up on the site, I’m in a mad dash to get the webcomic live as well. Even though I started it before the print designs, it has taken much longer to bring to fruition. But it will be well worth the wait!
I just finished my fourth poster, Determination. Check it out here.
C2E2 is rapidly approaching. My plan is to have eight posters ready for the show. I’m on target so far.
My booth number is now confirmed – N5. My exhibitor details can be found here.
It looks like C2E2 is going to be huge this year, I hope to see you there!
It’s official, I’ll be at C2E2 this year! Save the date: April 26 – 28 at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. If you going this year, look for me in Artists Alley. You can check out my gallery listing here. I don’t have my booth number yet, but I’ll post it when I find out.
I’ll be premiering my Zombie Office prints there, so stop by and say “Hi.”
I’m also confirmed for the Chicago Comic Con coming up in August, stay tuned for more on this.
